RSS workers attack Christian youths in Madhya Pradesh
From our correspondent
The activists of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) attacked two Christian youths for distributing literature promoting their religion in Indore of Madhya Pradesh on 5 February 2006. They also ransacked a portion of a church in Kabeetkhedi area of the city.
The activists had earlier chased and attacked the youths, employees of the church who had allegedly distributed some printed matter on religion in Pardeshipura area on 31 January 2006, the police said.
In a bid to save themselves, the youths locked themselves in a room of the church but the activists forced open the door and allegedly beat up, leaving them seriously injured. However, one of them managed to escape, the police said.
Senior officials, including Additional District Magistrate Manish Singh and ASP Rajesh Hingankar rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to hospital. The Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
The All India Christian Council (aicc) has time and again cautioned the administration in Madhya Pradesh against Hindu activists trying to attack Christians and their institutions. The latest attack is seen as yet another instance of lapse on the part of the administration in the communally sensitive state.
